I'm starting this blog after taking a writing class at school. I plan to use this as a place to write about important issues while still improving my writing ability.
The Name
I decided to name this blog after a game my friends and I played a lot when we were younger: sporks. In this game we put sporks on a table and passed cards around in a circle. Whoever got 4 of the same card first would grab a spork and then everyone else had to grab a spork. The catch was that there were less sporks on the table than there were people, and whoever didn't have a spork would lose the game and be out. The game continues until there are only two people left fighting over one spork. When we finished playing the game we put all the sporks back in the drawer. As i grew up I thought back to the spork game and how I often feel like the first person out, or the first "spork in the drawer".
One of my other important goals with this blog is working on becoming more like-able, so I end up as the last spork in the drawer and not the first one.
More About Me
I consider myself curious by nature and love to learn everything. My favorite thing to learn by far is languages, especially japanese, and chinese. However i don't have much time to learn them these days, when i'm not studying or working on my writing degree I am working one of my three jobs. My first job is at a vegan cafe where I get to eat tons of great food for 30% off. I've been a vegan for 9 years so it's really fun to work with customers who have a similar interest.
Well I have a feeling no one ever reads anyones first blog post so i'll just leave it at that. One of my goals with this blog is to write at least 400 words a day! Which i'm pretty sure i've hit by now (nobody actually check that lol). Okay! signing off, see you tomorrow for the next 400 words: D
