They're Terrified

That's the only explanation for the massive freakout by the RNC and Barbecue McMaverick over this perfectly accurate ad by the DNC:

They know that the more people hear about McCain's "100 Years" the more people will turn away in horror. (Then again, Paul "Comblicker" Wolfowitz claimed yesterday yesterday that the US occupation of Iraq ended nearly four years ago so...)

Oh, and how can we miss the delicious richness of the Republican National Committee complaining about 'distortions." When they saw that ad they probably said "rats!".

Pulling My Leg

And thus it begins:

The N.C. Republican Party says it will not back away from a planned TV ad that uses footage of Barack Obama's controversial former minister, despite objections from the expected GOP presidential nominee, John McCain.

The ad, released Wednesday on the Internet, tries to link the minister to two Democratic candidates for governor, both of whom have endorsed Obama.

Republican chairwoman Linda Daves said she would not bow to pressure from the Republican National Committee and others to pull the ad.

Oh yes, I'm sure St. John and the RNC really, really want this ad removed from the airwaves. I'm sure they really, really believe that this sort of guilt-by-association has no place in political campaigns.

Yes, we can expect this all the way to November:

Independent Group: Look at our new smear ad!

McCain: I object! Take the ad down!

Independent Group: No.

McCain: Darn. I tried.

Politics is fun!

Word Of The Day

Childish:

There's a new rule at the Republican National Committee. Refer to the two leading Democratic presidential candidates simply as "Barack" and "Hillary" and you'll be fined $10. The reason: Using first names makes the candidates sound more likable but calling them "Senator Obama" and "Senator Clinton" makes them sound more distant and bureaucratic. "I don't think people are actually being fined," says one insider. But everyone is being "encouraged" to follow the rule.

The Republicans could use a good spanking.

Except they'd probably enjoy it.

This Just In

House Judiciary Chair John Conyers sends off another sternly worded letter, this time to the Republican National Committee.

Do you think RNC chief Robert Duncan is quaking in his loafers or laughing?

Surprise!

This morning I wrote on the subject of the White House using RNC mail servers:

Anyway, chances are the RNC will respond by saying, golly, we deleted those e-mails before anybody asked for them and then the hard drives were destroyed by accident. Ooops!

The virtual shredding began weeks ago. Guaranteed.

Well guess what?

The White House said Wednesday it had mishandled Republican Party-sponsored e-mail accounts used by nearly two dozen presidential aides, resulting in the loss of an undetermined number of e-mails concerning official White House business.

No, this doesn't make me a prescient genius. This band of criminals operates so obviously that any child could have seen this coming.

I'm no lawyer but I feel safe in assuming that we have all sorts of felonies in play here: Obstruction of justice, perjury, destruction of evidence, conspiracy, what have you.

The most galling thing of it is the media will continue to treat this as a normal political disagreement and produce bushels of think pieces asking the question, Are the Democrats going too far?

It's long past time to call the BushCheney White House and the Republican Party what they are: Crimianal conspirators.
