Easy, the planners failed to do their research. But isn't it possible that this guy was a homophobe 15 years ago but has had a change of heart? Some people do evolve, I'm told!

The thought occurred to me yesterday but were that so I'd reckon the WH or Giglio would have been ready to say that. Instead, Giglio pointedly didn't express a change of heart today.
I keep thinking of the legendary Affleck/Lopez bomb "Gigli" (no, I haven't seen it).
