Alternate Idea

Perhaps online datamining of children should just be plain illegal.

In fact, let me toss out a bold suggestion: any and all collection of information about users online should be opt-in by law. Require the operators of websites to get express consent of the user before collecting information about them.

Any business model that is based on the gathering, buying, and selling of personal information is no respectable business model at all and ought to be tossed into the dustbin of history.
