Let Me Get This Straight

Nobody can get anything done because the Senate requires 60 votes to pass nearly every piece of legislation. Yet, somehow, someway, without anyone even noticing, a bill managed to get through both the House and Senate and sent to the White House for the President's signature that would make it even easier for lenders to seize people's houses, and make it harder for homeowners to challenge those seizures.

Pelosi? Reid? Hello?

How did such a bill manage to gain approval on the QT?

I'm thinking now of Deep Throat's admonition: Follow the money.

UPDATE: Obama "will not sign" the bill and instead "return the bill to the House of Representatives". White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer adds, "The authors of this bill no doubt had the best intentions in mind when trying to remove impediments to interstate commerce".

Yes, best intentions, I'm sure.
