Firefox

posted by gyma

Last week my laptop had a hissy fit so I bought a new one over the weekend.  That means a new OS (Windows7) and I decided to switch browsers(Firefox) just to torture myself.  Parts of FF are nice, but I'm overwhelmed by the possibilities, including the 6,000 freaking add-ons!

Now I read this:

Mozilla took another year to push out Firefox version 3.5, which arrived in June. But now, the team is committed to delivering a new release every six months. Firefox 3.6 is due by the end of 2009.

I'm pretty sure that just about the time I have it figured out, Mozilla will push out a new version, none of the 6,000 add-ons will work, and I'll be cussing up a blue streak.

Anyone wanna bet?

FWIW, I've been using FF for years and have never had an add-on get munged by a new version. It happens, but (I think) only with the more esoteric ones.

Also, when a new version comes out it's best to wait a few days before installing it - if there's something wrong with it let others be the guinea pigs.
